France: Church appeals against same-sex marriage law

The French Catholic Church is appealing against a draft law that intends to authorise marriage between same-sex couples: the Archbishop of Paris and President of the Bishops’ Conference of France André Vingt-trois, has appealed to leaders’ “sense of common good.”

In the “prayer for France” sent to all dioceses across the country, the archbishop called on "all those who have been recently elected to draft laws and govern, to have a sense of what is in the entire society's best interest rather than giving in to particular demands and listen to their conscience".

The archbishop referred in particular to same-sex marriage and euthanasia.
