Bishop decries EU, German aid to Sudan’s government

Image result for Bishop Emeritus Macram Max GassisA Sudanese bishop has traveled to Europe to draw attention to what he describes as a “hidden and forgotten conflict”: government attacks on the people of the Nuba mountain region and Abyei.

Bishop Emeritus Macram Max Gassis of El Obeid lamented the “hunger, disease, insecurity, and above all, silence in the face of evils that are killing innocent people, particularly children, women and elderly, who are maimed, rendered homeless and killed due to aerial bombardment which has become the order of the day.”

Blasting the EU and Germany for aiding the Sudanese government, the prelate said:
It is alarming to know Europe has moved ahead, partnered with and supplies with high-tech surveillance and registration equipment, those who use chemical weapons, conduct indiscriminate aerial bombardment, starve their population, refuse life-saving medicines reaching the Nuba population, in order to stem the flow of refugees from Africa.
