Six months ago a previous version of legislation was passed by the synod's houses of bishops and clergy but was rejected by the House of Laity.

At its meeting in York this week the House approved for publication a report by the Working Group on Women in the Episcopate, which proposed the four options, details of which have not been released.

The report recommended that the options should be discussed at the July meeting of General Synod with a view to the legislation receiving final approval in 2015.
