Franc advice to help brides step out in style

FIRST there was the 99 sterling pence wedding dress – now there’s a magazine costing a little more which TV wedding planner Peter Kelly argues could also save prospective couples a few bob.

Kelly – known to television viewers as Franc – launched his new venture yesterday and claimed it would allow future newly-weds to spend less or lots on their big day.

The bi-monthly magazine, titled Franc Wedding Secrets, will hit the shelves at a price of €6.95.

That’s a little more expensive than the 99p (€1.15) wedding dress worn by Natalie Mapletoft in Somerset, England which she bought on eBay.

The purchase made international headlines but Peter Kelly said not everyone wanted to be so spendthrift on their big day.

"So many wedding magazines are made up of schedules, timetables, rules and etiquette," he said. "This magazine is about the couple because I firmly believe if the bride and groom have fun on their big day then everyone else will have fun too.

"I hope this magazine will give people enthusiasm to plan their special day and enjoy the whole experience from start to finish – with a little help from Franc."

The magazine is published by RSVP media.

Publisher Michael Mulcahy said: "We are delighted to partner Franc in this new venture and feel very confident that Irish brides from Bangor to Bandon will not only enjoy this magazine but gather some Franc know-how along the way."

Kelly’s Brides of Franc became a TV hit in recent years, organising weddings from Inis Mór to Cobh.
