First secretary of the Vatican’s representation leaves Moscow for Hong Kong

First secretary of the Vatican’s representation in Russia Monsignor Ante Josich leaves his post as he is moved to Hong Kong.

At the farewell reception in the Moscow Nunciature, he thanked everyone for cooperation and friendship, especially the Russian Orthodox Church in person of Patriarch Kirill, bishops, priests and staff members of the Department for External Church Relations, ambassadors of foreign countries and all his colleagues.

Summing up the ceremonial part, guests of the Vatican’s representation chanted Orthodox hymn “Many Years” in Russian.

Monsignor Josich will head the so-called Research Mission (Missione di Studio) in Hong Kong, which is the division of the Philippines Nunciature as China does not have diplomatic relations with Vatican.

This mission was established in early 1990s when Hong Kong was under Britain’s protectorate.

Fr. Ante worked in Russia for six years, before it he was on mission in India. He speaks English, French, Spanish, Italian, Russian, German and Hindi.

Lithuanian priest Visvaldas Kulbokas, 34, will be appointed to the Vatican’s representation in Russia, he is coming to Moscow from the Vatican’s Embassy in the Netherlands.
