Pope appoints delegate for end of Pauline Year events in Malta

The Pope has appointed Cardinal Ennaio Antonelli as his special delegate for the celebrations to be held in Malta on June 29 to conclude the Pauline Year, the Curia said today.

Cardinal Antonelli is the President of the Pontifical Council for the Family.

The Catholic Church dedicated a special Jubilee Year to the Apostle Paul from 28 June 2008 to 29 June 2009, on the occasion of the bimillennium of the saint's birth, which historians have placed between the years 7 and 10 A.D.

The concluding ceremony in Malta will be held at St John Square, Valletta.

A series of activities is also being planned for the visit of the Pope’s Delegate leading to the diocesan celebration in Valletta, the Curia said.
